At what age should I sign my child up for survival swim lessons?Ages can act as guidelines, but we believe that developmental stages are more telling of a child’s readiness. If your child is crawling or walking, it is a great time to get started in the program. The moment that a child becomes mobile, the risk of drowning skyrockets - especially if they are exposed to water frequently.
How long are lessons?One-on-one lessons are 15 minutes. Parent-tot classes (when offered) are 30 minutes.
What makes your lessons different?Typical recreational swim lessons tend to focus more on splash, play & water acclimation rather than true survival skill building. Other infant swim programs tend to focus solely on skill building but forget important pieces of the learning process - confidence building & play. Our child centered, gentle approach developed by the Survival Swim Development Network is designed to balance confidence with true survival skills. Your child will walk away with skills that would aid them in the event of an aquatic accident, as well as a love & healthy respect for the water.
What is your swim diaper policy?Any swimmer that is not 100% toilet trained MUST wear 2 diapers, a regular swim diaper and a reusable swim diaper before they enter the water. Any non-swim diapers should not be worn in the pool. *Children should not swim if they have diarrhea or have had diarrhea in the past 48 hours.
Are registration and/or lesson fees refundable? The Splash Co. does not offer refunds. Once a lesson slot has been reserved, it is considered "sold" & is no longer available for others.

How many lessons does my child need? This will vary from child to child based on experience, developmental stage and personality around water. However, the average range for a young, beginner swimmer to learn our survival skills is typically 24 consistent lessons. Students will have a minimum of two lessons per week or up to four lessons per week for the initial program. Consistency is key.
Why are lessons taught multiple times per week?Shorter lesson slots at more frequent intervals work best for little, growing bodies & minds. We have found that this structure sets our children up for success!
How do I reschedule or cancel a lesson?
What do I do if my child cries? We understand that babies & toddlers are hardwired to communicate by crying. Even the most reluctant child WILL develop a comfort level in the water with time. It’s important to remember this & trust our trained instructor to care for your child & help with this transition. Three lessons is the average amount of time it takes for the instructor to start forming a bond with a child. If you have a tearful child, we recommend stepping into an area slightly out of view so that your child can focus on building trust & a relationship with the instructor. The parent's words & demeanor will set the tone for the lessons. Be patient, encouraging & stay with it. Ultimately, this approach shortens the time it takes for your child to adjust to lessons.
