The Splash Co. offers a gentle approach to teaching children's survival swim lessons.  Our program is appropriate for ages 9 months & up and as of Spring 2024, we have instructors in two locations - Ponca City, OK and Derby, KS!  Our lessons are tailored to fit each individual child, taking into consideration age, personality & comfort level in the water.  We provide a fun, nurturing environment where children can build confidence & develop life-saving skills that will remain with them as they grow!

It's all about the child.

Every child is unique!  Our lesson program is built to fit the child's personality, development level, experience & disposition in the water.  Our teaching method is fitting for every child, even those who may have adaptive needs.

It's a team effort.

The methodology taught by The Splash Co. was carefully designed by the Survival Swim Development Network to blend the instructor, child & parent into a learning team.  Each person has a specific role to fill, working toward the same end goal - the success of the child.

Along my career path, I always found myself longing to do something with my time and efforts that truly made a difference.  For me, that meant finding a way to make a positive, long term impact in other people's lives.  The opportunity to become a survival swim instructor presented itself through some very dear friends of ours and it didn't take much convincing for me to decide that this was the direction I wanted to go - and then along came Splash Co. Survival Swim in June 2021! 
​My husband and I have two children, a girl and a boy.  When my daughter was little, we wanted to enroll her in survival swim lessons due to the amount of time we spent at the lake or poolside with family and friends.  We understood how important it was for her to have safe swimming skills but unfortunately, we could not find an instructor or swim school within a reasonable distance from where we lived.  I think many parents in our rural area had felt the same way.
I am proud of be a member of the Survival Swim Development Network and provide this much needed service to our community.  Working with children and seeing them grow and succeed brings endless joy!  Kids can do amazing things.

After years in the Event Management industry, I felt a pull to do something different- something that felt more meaningful to me. When the opportunity to work with children in a way that was so impactful presented itself, I jumped at the chance to join the Splash Co. cause.  Being a mom, I love that I can now provide other parents with the peace of mind that their child has the skills to prevent a tragic water accident.  We are a family that is drawn to the water, spending our summers at the pool, river and lake, so water safety has always been so important to me. When not in the water, I spend my time gardening, canning, baking and tending to our happy little homestead outside of town.
Shreene completed her intensive, in-water survival swim instructor training with Brittany Rector in April 2024.  She is Adult, Child and Baby CPR/First Aid/AED certified.

Water Safety Facts.

  • Drowning is the leading cause of death in children ages 1-4.
  •  Formal swimming lessons between ages 1-4 reduces the risk from drowning by 88%.
  • Swimming lessons should absolutely be considered as part of a multilayered protection with effective pool barriers and constant, capable supervision by an adult at all times in and around any body of water.
